Aromatherapy massage is a relaxing therapeutic full body massage using a selection of wonderful essential oils and base oils to create a relaxing, uplifting or invigorating massage

Essential oils have many therapeutic benefits for general health & our well-being.The aroma and healing properties of essential oils can be very helpful in treating many ailments, disorders and through the menopause stage. They can help support our emotions and are cleansing, purifying, calming, uplifting and great for muscular aches and pains.

Some examples of essential oils I may use in a massage are; Lavender, Geranium, Frankincense, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Black pepper, Marjoram, Camomile, Eucalyptus, Grapefruit, Peppermint, Mandarin.

The essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain and carry the ‘essence’ of the plant. They often have a much stronger smell than the plants they come from and contain higher levels of active ingredients. and great for our skin.

How does Aromatherapy work?

Aromatherapy works on three main levels through the sense of smell, absorption and inhalation. As we breath in the aroma of the essential oils are quickly absorbed by our ‘smell’ receptors that are linked to the limbic system, which controls heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and stress.

Absorption of essential oils are greatly increased by massage, with the aid of a carrier oil such as grapeseed as this increases the circulation in that area of the body.
